This three-day programme offers leadership training with immediate practical application. Through expert facilitation, real-world scenarios and peer learning, you will find your voice as a leader, understand how the NHS is structured, and build a network of contacts from across the sector.   

Release Your Potential gives you time and space to build confidence in handling challenging conversations and manage pressure. You will develop a clear understanding of your leadership style and explore what kind of leader you want to be.   

What makes Release Your Potential different?  

Unlike lengthy programmes with multiple modules, the programme is completed over three consecutive days, giving you practical skills and strategies you can implement immediately.   

Supported by an experienced team of senior consultants, you will move beyond theory to enhance your self-awareness, learn how to navigate complex systems, and empower your team to deliver their best work.

What will I learn?

This intensive programme will explore:  

  • Leadership – develop a clear understanding of your leadership style and impact, understand your unique responsibility as a leader in health and care, and how to find your voice.  

  • Team working – effective team working, developing effective meetings and building the confidence to handle challenging conversations.  

  • Structure – how the NHS is structured, how formal and informal structures work, and how to develop key relationships.   

Connect with peers from across the sector and build a network that continues to support your growth long after the programme ends. 

Is the programme for me?

Release Your Potential is an intensive development programme designed for people at the start of their leadership journey. 

The programme is open to both clinical and non-clinical professionals working across health and social care. We welcome participants from:  

  • NHS providers and trusts  

  • VCSE (voluntary, community and social enterprise) organisations  

  • Local authorities 

  • Universities  

  • Social and community care  

  • Life sciences & health technology

Programme structure  

Release Your Potential runs over three days, bringing together new leaders to explore: 

Day one – focus on self:  

  • You will explore leadership and purpose, with exercises designed to help you understand your working style and its impact on others, develop your interpersonal skills, and work with difference within teams and organisations.  

Day two – focus on team:  

  • Equipped with a renewed confidence in your abilities, you will learn what effective team working looks like, skills-based development for effective meetings, and how to implement these learnings immediately. 

Day three – focus on organisation  

  • You will gain a detailed insight into how the NHS is structured and explore formal and informal structures across health and care. Discover strategies for developing key relationships across your organisation.  

After the programme ends, you’ll have access to a 12-month membership to ShiftWorks (included in the programme fee). ShiftWorks provides continued support beyond the programme including: 

  • Access to leadership development materials. 

  • Community space to connect with others. 

  • Practical tools to apply your learning. 

  • Opportunities to stay engaged after the programme ends.
