The Strategic Clinical Leaders programme is a leadership course aimed at senior leaders working in all sectors of the health and care system, from public health and social care to dentistry and the NHS. 

The course will support you to develop a deeper understanding of your own leadership style. You’ll learn new skills that are crucial to becoming a strategic leader, including influencing and personal impact, teamworking, resilience and how to build professional networks. 

Taking place in person over 12 days, the course is also an opportunity to meet and share experiences with people working in similar situations. You’ll leave with the confidence to positively impact and influence the shape of the system you work in. 

What will I learn on the Strategic Clinical Leaders programme?

From integrated care and technological innovations to regulation, governance, and putting more emphasis on patient voices, the health and care system is an ever-changing environment. The Strategic Clinical Leaders programme is designed to equip senior leaders with the skills they need to lead effectively in the 21st century. 

Throughout the course you’ll be developing your leadership skills, and the emphasis will be on putting those skills into practice. The course is structured around four key elements:

  • expert insight and challenge

  • reflection

  • critical knowledge

  • problem-solving.

You’ll be challenged by the course directors to take what you’ve learnt to:

  • actively change the culture of your organisation and local system

  • build networks in and across organisations

  • increase your ability to influence and shape the system you’re working in.

Is the Strategic Clinical Leaders programme for me?

The Strategic Clinical Leaders programme is suitable for senior clinical and professional leaders working in any area of the health and care system, including:

  • the NHS

  • pharmacy

  • dentistry

  • public health

  • voluntary, community and social enterprise sector. 

People who take part in the programme often work as, or aspire to be in the near future, medical, nurse, AHP directors or equivalent.
