Are you a senior leader in the health and care sector, grappling with complex issues to deliver improved outcomes for local populations? Our programme is designed specifically for you.
Why join us?
Health and care organisations increasingly working together to combine their skills and resources to improve health and care outcomes for local populations. However, this shift towards collective interest and shared responsibility is not easy after a legacy of policies promoting organisational self-interest and autonomy. Research shows that leaders play an important role in demonstrating a different way of working and enabling others to adopt a more collaborative approach.
Testimonials
'Great programme. The mix of learning new skills linked to integrated care policy developments was useful. Good speakers and networking opportunities.'
Chief executive, NHS Providers
'...the reflective exercises with peers were really useful and the guest speakers from a variety of different perspectives challenged my thinking.'
Medical director, ICS
'...hugely valuable to me …I had time to reflect on self and my interactions and interventions as a leader, and it was so valuable to explore the new ICS/ICB and place developments with others from different sectors and places.'
Deputy chief executive, NHS provider
What we offer
Our programme brings together 16 leaders from various health and care organisations to work on real-life leadership challenges. We create spaces for leaders to explore how they can best navigate the volatile economic, political and social environments they work in, setting conditions for others to collaborate effectively.
What will you learn?
Our course is designed to equip leaders with increased awareness and knowledge to facilitate more effective collaborative working locally. We pay specific attention to the different local contexts each leader is grappling with and the impact of broader political, economic and social factors. The programme supports your day-to-day leadership challenges and offers opportunities to look to the future.
Programme structure
The programme spans nine months, with four modules held at The King’s Fund, each lasting two days. Topics covered include:
exploring and managing power dynamics
surfacing and managing conflict
working with difference
shifting ‘stuck’ conversations
developing narratives to support collaboration
building professional relationships
developing resilience.
Before starting, you will have a phone call with the programme director to discuss your personal goals, which will inform the specific content of the programme.
