Integrated ways of working across health and care are dependent on IT systems being interoperable. In this free online event, we discussed the benefits of interoperability for staff, patients and carers – sharing learning about how we can make interoperability a reality and where it's being done well.

Our speakers addressed the following questions:

  • Why is interoperability so important and why is it not used at scale?

  • How can we encourage the widespread adoption of interoperability?

  • What is the role of the Global Digital Exemplars (GDEs) and the Local Health and Care Record Exemplars (LHCREs) in adoption?

  • How can suppliers contribute success for patients, tax-payers and themselves?

The speakers considered what's currently happening in the health and care sector and shared their own experience and expertise, along with cases studies of those already making strides towards successful interoperability.
