Code of conduct for our events

We aim to be a catalyst for change and to inspire improvement in health and care. One of the ways we do this is by bringing people together to discuss, share and learn through our events programme

An event should be an inclusive space, and everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and supported at our events, whether in-person or online. As a result, all our attendees, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors and event staff are required to follow our code of conduct.

The following code of conduct refers to acceptable behaviour and harassment. This is any unwanted behaviour towards someone, including physical or verbal conduct, that threatens, intimidates or upsets someone.

Accepted behaviour

  • Be considerate of all other participants and treat everyone with dignity

  • Be respectful of the views of others, especially when they differ from your own

  • Be respectful of speakers and chairs during sessions, understanding that they may not have the expertise to answer all questions directed to them

  • Alert event organisers if you notice any discriminatory or harassing behaviour.

Unacceptable behaviour

Including, but not limited to:

  • Offensive or unwanted behaviour, including offensive behaviour related to gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, religion, age, disability, physical appearance or another defining characteristic

  • Harassment or bullying, whether online or in-person

  • Using harmful, offensive language or imagery, including sexual images, anywhere at an in-person or online event, including on our event app or platform, in presentations, talks, sessions or on attire

  • Sustained disruption to a talk or session during the event

  • Sharing your event registration with another person (or people), including sharing access to the event app or platform

  • Protests that significantly disrupt the event or cause safety concerns

  • Any illegal activity not mentioned above.

Consequences of unacceptable behaviour

Unacceptable behaviour by any attendee will not be tolerated. If an attendee breaches the code of conduct, they will be asked to cease immediately and some cases, may be asked to leave without warning or refund.

Legal action may be considered if a criminal offence is suspected and may be reported to the police or relevant authorities.

How to report unacceptable behaviour

Please alert the events team if you suspect someone is in breach of our code of conduct.

At an in-person event, a member of staff will always be available during sessions and breaks. You can alert the team by visiting the registration desk or by alerting the staff member present in the room during the conference sessions.

At an online event, you can contact us at [email protected] or on 020 7307 2431.

Participating in questions during sessions

When asking questions at a conference, use polite and professional language, avoiding any form of personal attacks or offensive remarks. Please raise your hand and wait to be called upon by the presenter or chair. Keep your questions focused and ensure they are directly related to the presentation content and the speaker's expertise.

Be mindful of time constraints and allow other attendees the chance to ask questions as well.
