Ben Fuchs is a Senior Consultant at The King’s Fund. He has been a practicing psychologist for over 25 years. He has particular interest in developing systems leadership in health and care. He works with hospitals, clinical commissioning groups (CCGs), community services, sustainability and transformation partnerships (STPs) and integrated care systems (ICSs), and health regulators to improve quality and collaboration across boundaries. He specialises in working with leaders and organisations facing strategic, financial and cultural challenges - often within a pressured environment of complexity and uncertainty. His work aims to help leaders to clarify the key issues, engage in crucial conversations, surface and resolve conflicts, build trust and increase agility.
Prior to joining The Kings Fund, Ben was faculty with Ashridge Business School’s NHS consulting practice. Ben has also worked in the corporate sector and in international development, leading conflict resolution projects with former adversaries in Nicaragua and Northern Ireland.
Ben holds a Masters degree in counselling psychology and post-graduate level professional training in coaching, facilitation, conflict resolution, appreciative inquiry, Harvard negotiation and supervision. Publications include: Do you have advantage blindness (Harvard Business Review), Can we talk about power?, and Working with fear and anxiety in healthcare. Ben is currently researching the dynamics of ‘speaking truth to power.’
