Steph Kleynhans

Head of Responsive Policy and Public Affairs Communications

Steph joined The King’s Fund in April 2026 as Head of Responsive Policy and Public Affairs (maternity cover). She leads the responsive policy and public affairs team, which focuses on identifying, analysing and communicating emerging policy issues.

Before joining, Steph worked at a small cancer charity, The Brain Tumour Charity (TBTC), where she headed up the Policy and Campaigns Team. Whilst there, she led the team’s policy work on earlier and faster diagnosis, brain tumour patients’ ability to participate in research and workforce as well as their influencing and public affairs work.

Prior to working at TBTC, she worked at Shelter on housing and benefits policy and led their successful influencing campaign to restore housing benefit for private renters back to pre-Covid levels. She has also worked at Universities UK International on European higher education policy and for a Member of Parliament.

Steph holds a BA in English and an MA in International Relations, both from the University of Birmingham.
