Niamh Buckingham

Niamh joined The King's Fund in August 2025 as a policy adviser, bringing extensive experience in health and care policy research, strategic analysis and stakeholder engagement. She works in the responsive policy team, where she focuses on identifying and interpreting emerging policy issues and translating complex evidence into actionable insights.

Before joining, Niamh held senior roles at Anthony Nolan, where she led research-driven policy programmes, including influencing to improve psychological support for stem cell transplant patients, and co-authored academic research on cell therapy pathways.

Earlier in her career, Niamh led policy work at Sue Ryder and Refuge, advocating for palliative and neurological care, and advancing support for survivors of domestic abuse. She began her career in Westminster as a parliamentary assistant.

Niamh holds a MA in Human, Social and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge, specialising in Social Anthropology.
