Matthew was a researcher in the policy team and left the Fund in Spring 2020.
While at the Fund, Matthew was interested in the effective, fair use of digital and data-driven technology in the health and care system. He specialised in research, policy advice and comment in this area. His recent work includes projects on digital change in health and care, the impact of technology on productivity and digital primary care models.
He contributed to the Fund’s research and analysis across the health and social care system too, most frequently on primary care. He has worked on acute sector, social care, community care and mental health care projects.
He returned to the Fund from sabbatical in 2017, having studied for an MSc in social science from the Oxford Internet Institute. His thesis focused on the development of artificial intelligence in health care.
Matthew joined the Fund in 2013. Before that, he worked at the Innovation Unit for Public Services and University College London’s Constitution Unit. He holds a philosophy, politics and economics degree from Oxford University.
