Professor Dame Kay Davies is a human geneticist with extensive experience in the molecular analysis of neuromuscular and neurological disease. She is currently Dr Lee’s Professor of Anatomy at the University of Oxford, and co-director of the MDUK Oxford Neuromuscular Centre in the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics. Kay’s research interests focus on the molecular analysis and development of treatments for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Kay has an active interest in the ethical implications of genetics research and the public understanding of science and has served on many national and international committees related to genetics.

Kay is a founding Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and a Fellow of the Royal Society. She was appointed Governor of the Wellcome Trust in 2008 and was Deputy Chair between 2013–17. She was made Dame Commander of the British Empire for services to science in 2008.
