Duncan Hockey
Visiting GP Trainee, Health PolicyDuncan has now left the Fund.
Duncan is on a part-time placement at The King’s Fund as part of the Imperial College GP Speciality Training Programme. He is a junior doctor, currently training to be a GP.
He has a background in nursing, and started his health care career 23 years ago. During his career he has worked in about 40 hospitals and care settings worldwide. He did his post-registration specialty training in A&E and then tropical nursing, but most of his experience is in emergency medicine.
He has completed a nurse practitioner BSc at King's College London, and has 11 years' experience of working as an emergency nurse practitioner. His BSc dissertation involved an analysis of role re-development as boundaries become blurred between health care professions. This has been useful in understanding the clinical governance issues that accompany new methods of service delivery.
Duncan has also trained as an acupuncturist, completing a three-year course to gain registration as a member of the British Acupuncture Council.
