If we want to save more lives, general hospitals must close

We were all captivated by the story of Fabrice Muamba, the footballer who in March collapsed in front of a 35,000 crowd. Luckily an off-duty cardiologist came to his rescue and had the Bolton midfielder rushed to the London Chest Hospital in Bethnal Green. Despite time being crucial and two other hospitals being nearer, it was seen as his best hope for survival.
