The Francis Inquiry report into the shocking failures of care at Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust will make uncomfortable reading for Ministers past and present. The report, expected imminently, will offer a forensic analysis of events at Stafford Hospital that led to hundreds of patients being harmed and dying unnecessarily. Jeremy Hunt, the Health Secretary, will understandably feel the urge to act tough in response, putting himself on the side of patients and vowing that tragic events like these should never happen again.
