The new NHS: health and wellbeing boards

Health and wellbeing boards are central to the government’s vision of a more integrated approach to health and social care.

Established and hosted by local authorities, health and wellbeing boards bring together the NHS, public health, adult social care and children’s services, including elected representatives and Local Healthwatch, to plan how best to meet the needs of their local population and tackle local inequalities in health. To date they have been the one feature of the Health and Social Care Act that has received overwhelming support.
