This joint briefing from The King's Fund, Nuffield Trust and the Health Foundation makes the economic, social and political case for further investment in social care and aims to move the argument on from the cost of social care to its value.

The Queen’s Speech included commitments to strengthen the health and care system, support health and wellbeing, and increase NHS funding. This briefing outlines The King’s Fund’s response ahead of the debates on the Queen’s Speech in parliament. 

In a letter to Matt Hancock, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care and Professor Chris Witty, Chief Medical Officer, we set our views on plans for the future public health system in England.

We find that the draft strategy is a good start, but we believe as it is finalised its commitments need to be more tightly focused on inequality reduction than they currently are.
