Foundation trusts are a cornerstone of the government's policy to decentralise decision making in the NHS.
Homerton Hospital was one of the first ten foundation hospitals that 'went live' in April 2004, and this research looks at the implementation of the governance arrangements in this hospital.
The research was conducted primarily through face-to-face in-depth interviews with a broad range of stakeholders. It focuses on the emerging role of trust members and governors and their relationship with the trust’s board of directors.
