The NHS has always had a close relationship with the pharmaceutical industry. Economically, this partnership has been very successful, but at times the industry's drive to make profits has conflicted with the best interests of the public.

This publication argues that, in focusing on new medicinal drugs, the partnership is neglecting other areas of research that may help promote health.
