The Nuffield Trust health and social care ratings review

Consultation response

We welcome the opportunity to contribute to the independent review by the Nuffield Trust commissioned by the Secretary of State for Health to consider whether aggregate ratings of provider performance should be used in health and social care.

This short paper sets out the views of The King’s Fund. Overall, while we support the government’s commitment to make more information about the quality of care and services publicly available to patients and the public, it is not clear to us that a nationally defined aggregate rating for every health and social care provider would be useful for any of the intended audiences.
