Scarcely a day goes by without a nurse or other health professional lamenting that care standards have slipped to an all-time low in our hospitals.

Most of us know from our own experiences that while care is often fantastic, it is sometimes impersonal and lacks compassion.

Health staff come to work intending to provide the quality of care they would want for themselves and their families, but today's hospitals are vast, time is at a premium - and in these busy 'medical factories', the care of patients can get squeezed out.
