Leading through Covid-19

The health and care system in the United Kingdom is facing a challenge the like of which has not been seen in living memory.

This is placing enormous pressure on health and care staff and that includes making unprecedented demands on leaders, wherever they work. These pages aim to provide support to this leadership community, whether they are working in the NHS, social care, public health or the voluntary and independent sector.

The material will be short, accessible, practical and relevant to the challenges you are facing. As part of this week’s launch the content will cover teaming, coaching and holding virtual meetings. But this is only a beginning: we are reaching out to other partners and organisations in the United Kingdom or beyond and will regularly provide more content that responds to the needs of leaders.

We want to get this right: providing the support you need, in the format that works best. So though we’ve made a start now, this is where you can tell us what would be helpful for you, whether in terms of the content or how it is presented.

The King’s Fund, of course, remains an independent organisation, but this is not the Fund working in isolation. This resource is launched with support from NHS England and NHS Improvement, Health Education England and an expanding list of other organisations, and we will try to draw on the best expertise, wherever that may be.

I hope that this evolving resource will provide some help as you and your teams rise to the challenge created by this unprecedented public health emergency.
