Part of Enhancing the Healing Environment

Date started: 1 Jun 2001
Organisation: acute
Service: adult acute
Project: gardens

A garden at Queen Mary's Hospital.

This is now part of Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.

Aims and outcomes

The aim of the project was to provide a pleasant outside environment for use by patients, staff and visitors throughout the year. The garden would give patients an area where they could relax and also serve as an extra waiting area for visitors in addition to the main reception.

The design scheme incorporates paving, bench seating, planting and a water feature, and is highly visible from the restaurant corridor.
