Hayward House Speciallist Palliative Care Unit

Aims and outcomes

Hayward House provides specialist palliative care services and the project aim was to refurbish the main day care unit as this would have maximum benefit to patients.

The rather tired decor in the main day area has been improved with patient art as an integral part of the refurbishment. The vibrant colour scheme chosen for the refurbishment has been reflected in the new furniture and has created a much more welcoming atmosphere.

The conservatory, previously an underused space, has been double glazed and internal folding doors to the main day area added. These can now be closed off for teaching or for private consultations. External glass doors were added to create improved visibility and access to the refurbished patio area. The garden has been improved with the help of volunteers.
