The Briars, Exeter
Aims and Outcomes
There was no dedicated waiting area at this creative therapies unit prior to the project. The building is Grade II listed and heritage colours, chosen to complement the Victorian floor tiles, have been used throughout. New lighting has been installed and flooring laid in the communal areas.
An office has been converted into a very comfortable waiting room: the original fireplace has been restored and the room furnished to create a homely atmosphere with large comfortable sofas and soft lighting.
The main hall window has been transformed into an artwork made of fused glass panels - over 40 service users and staff contributed to their creation. Commissioned artworks and loans from clients and local artists decorate the corridors and landings
