Chris Ham, Chief Executive of The King’s Fund, said: ‘Sir Bruce is a respected leader who has ensured a clinical voice has been at the heart of policy-making and who has been a driving force behind the use of transparency to improve patient care. His 2013 review into trusts with high mortality rates, in particular, led to a renewed focus on patient safety that has undoubtedly saved many lives. We have had the privilege to have worked closely with him over many years and wish him well for the future.’
