Notes to editors
How is the NHS performing? is the eightenth quarterly monitoring report by The King’s Fund.
The performance-related statistics cover the third quarter of 2015/16 (October to December) although time lags in the publication of data mean that reporting on some performance indicators covers different periods.
The report details the latest survey of NHS finance directors and CCG finance leads, which was carried out from 7 January to 25 January 2016. Of 236 NHS trust finance directors contacted, 83 responded. We also contacted 171 CCG finance leads, of whom 50 responded, covering 61 CCGs (29 per cent of CCGs). The survey was carried out after the main planning guidance for 2016/17 was published (but spanning publication of various additional guidance such as the announcement of control totals for all providers).
