Commenting on the 2008 New Year honours list in which Professor David Knowles, King’s Fund senior associate, and Mrs Sarah Waller, a programme director at the Fund, were made CBEs, King’s Fund Chairman Sir Cyril Chantler said:

'It is fantastic that both Sarah and David have been recognised in the New Year honours list and they deserve the warmest congratulations.

'Since joining the King’s Fund, Sarah has made an invaluable contribution to health services through her leadership of the Enhancing the Healing Environment Programme. Through this programme more than 130 NHS organisations including hospitals, mental health trusts, learning disability services and primary care trusts have transformed the environments in which they deliver care to patients.

'David led the Fund’s Leadership Development department from 1997 to 2006, initiating and overseeing programmes that help people working at all levels of the health service to advance their leadership skills. Now a senior associate of the Fund we are delighted that he continues to contribute to our programmes.'
