The King's Fund appoints new director of leadership

Kate Lobley, director of leadership at the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement, will take up the post of director of leadership at health think tank The King's Fund on 1 December.

Kate will be responsible for taking forward The King's Fund's leadership and development programmes, building on the Fund's well-established reputation for developing existing and aspiring NHS leaders as the NHS faces its most radical shake-up.

The King's Fund's Leadership team provide personal and organisational development programmes and consultancy support. They also work closely with NHS organisations and groups of clinicians to design and deliver programmes that support the improvement of health care and develop future leaders.

Commenting on the appointment, Chris Ham, chief executive of The King's Fund, said:

'I am delighted to welcome Kate to The King's Fund. She is joining at a crucial time – the future of the NHS rests on having the right leaders in the right place to drive improvements and inspire change. Kate's knowledge and experience make her the ideal candidate to direct the Fund’s programme of work in developing NHS leaders of the future.'

Prior to her role at the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement, where Kate was responsible for all strategic and operational elements of its leadership work across the NHS, she was executive director of operations at the Healthcare Commission.
