In this online event, Don Berwick shared lessons on improving quality in health care that can be applied in the NHS, taking into account the changes taking place in localities as sustainability and transformation plans are implemented.

He also reflected on his work with the new care models vanguard sites and some of the emerging best practice.

About the speaker

Don Berwick is a renowned expert working widely with governmental and non-governmental organisations throughout England and internationally as part of his efforts in support of improvement of care, outcomes, and costs in health and care. He is an international visiting fellow at The King’s Fund.

A paediatrician by background, Don was for 19 years the founding CEO of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. In 2010, he was appointed by President Barack Obama as the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (the federal agency overseeing Medicare and Medicaid), a position that he held until December 2011. He has served on the faculties of the Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Public Health.
