Richard thank you for your insights. I cannot help it but I needed to fulfil an urge to change your title to: The Better Care Fund: how can we make the plans work? Forgive me but I get frustrated when I see us doing what we have always done & of course getting what we have always got. Firstly the concept of true integrated care is one we have to hold on to for dear life - the benefits have been well articulated. Secondly BCF on its own cannot be expected to be the change maker. What is greatly needed is a shift in our silo mentality tribalistic attitudes that seem to think more money is the change maker. How about seizing the Fund, and most importantly the opportunities for further shaping integrated care AND building stronger scaffolding/relationships sincerely commited to integrated working. It is a journey of a thousands miles which needs all on board to inspire the action needed if we are to make a difference that so matters to those who need care and support. Wouldn't it be great if every single one of us can exert all our efforts in how true integrated care can work in our day to day main streams of work. We need to be radical & make change happen.
