Tony Stevens, Medical Director of the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, spoke recently at our medical leadership development network event, giving us an insight into the challenges currently being faced in health care in Northern Ireland.
He explained how his previous experience in shipbuilding, banking and aerospace prepared him for a leadership role in the NHS. Tony said that the key lesson he has learned is the importance of leaders having influence if they desire to change something and, subsequently, being able to get that influence in the first place.
