Professor Sir Bruce Keogh, National Medical Director, NHS England, introduced the key findings of his review of urgent and emergency care at The King's Fund's Annual Conference 2013.

Sir Bruce stressed the need for a fundamental shift in the provision of urgent care and a long-term plan for accident and emergency services. With the current system under immense pressure, better care outside A&E services is required, with enhancements to the 111 service and paramedic services.
