Part of Commission on the Future of Health and Social Care in England

Julia Scott, Chief Executive of the College of Occupational Therapists, tells us that she is hoping the Commission on the Future of Health and Social Care in England will consider not only the integration of health and social care services, but the other services that affect how a population lives – housing, travel, leisure etc.

While the barrier between health and social care doesn't necessarily need to be moved, it does need to be more permeable for the care professionals who are required to work across the boundaries of this care. There's no more 'golden funding', so we have to rethink what we spend now and consider how it could be redistributed to encourage more care in the community and at home.
