Dr Binita Kane is a newly appointed consultant respiratory physician at University Hospital of South Manchester. She has a role that is split 50:50 between direct clinical care and clinical leadership. She graduated from the University of Manchester and has a PhD in airways inflammation.
After completing her PhD in 2008, she began working as a specialist registrar in respiratory medicine. She was recruited onto the Medical Leadership programme by Health Education North West in 2013 and completed a Masters in health care leadership in November 2015.
She currently works within an academic department providing tertiary services for people with severe asthma. As a trainee, she developed the North West Severe Asthma Network and now acts as the regional strategic lead for specialised asthma services. She is also leading the development of integrated respiratory services across Central and South Manchester.
