Voices, Values and Health

Involving the public in moral decisions
Kristina Staley
How far can the state force people to act against their wishes in order to benefit their own health?

This publication draws on a study in which researchers asked Londoners to resolve a range of policy dilemmas on issues such as drugs, alcohol and traffic pollution.

The process provided a useful model for involving the public in debates around public values, which can offer several advantages to policy-makers.
