Consultation response: smoke-free elements of the Health Improvement and Protection Bill

This paper considers the proposed smoking ban outlined in the White Paper 'Choosing Health: Making health choices easier' and argues that it is a form of stewardship needed for the public good.

It has been argued that the smoking ban is a product of the 'nanny state'. However, we consider that the government can improve public health through legislation and that it should be seen as a form of 'stewardship'.
