More money does not secure future of NHS

It wasn't so long ago that the biggest complaint about health care in this country was that we were not spending enough. Compared with most countries with similar populations and wealth, spending on the NHS looked parsimonious. But now, after a seven-year boost in funding which means we will soon be spending one pound in every 10 in the entire economy on the NHS and private health care, there is a general worry the extra cash is being wasted.
