Followership in the NHS
Grint's and Holt's paper suggests that the current focus on leadership underestimates the role of followers in securing a successful health service and overestimates the ability of individual 'heroic' leaders to make a significant difference to all circumstances.

It suggests that by harnessing the experiences of the professional medical 'followers' who understand the needs of the paying 'follower' (the patient) best, we could encourage them to lead in the NHS.
