Reducing variations in clinical practice

The most significant opportunities to improve productivity will come from reducing variation in clinical practice. Evidence suggests that productivity improvements valued at £4.5 billion could be made in hospitals alone by bringing performance up to the levels achieved by the best. We will publish new research and analysis aimed at building a clearer picture about clinical variation and the opportunities to reduce it.

In particular we will focus on:

• Tackling variations in clinical care
• Using PROMs to deliver quality and productivity
