Aims and outcomes

Originally the East Somerset NHS Trust.

The focus of the project was to replace the existing ward workstation with a more identifiable ward reception area that would be welcoming for patients, visitors and staff.

An ergonomically designed wooden desk was installed, creating a focal point for all those entering the ward. The use of natural materials reflects the chosen theme of 'bringing the outside in' and gives the area a non-institutional feel.

The new flooring design has helped people find their way more easily and stackable wood chairs have been used to create flexible and attractive seating areas. Local artists were commissioned to design the desk and chairs as well as lightboxes and window artwork.
