Entrances, lift lobbies and nurses' stations within wards for the care of older people at West Middlesex University Hospital

Aims and outcomes

The aim of the project was to create a non-institutional ambience throughout the wards, focusing on the points of entrance, lift lobby areas and nurses' stations. The team also wanted to improve signage within the wards.

The flooring and lighting throughout the area was revamped, as was the interior and exterior of the covered footbridge leading to the ward. Focal points were created within the wards using colour, light and works of art, including paintings for display in the lobby, corridors and nurses stations.
