Location
Chest clinic at Wythenshawe Hospital
Aims and outcomes
The design and décor of the chest clinic was shabby and outdated, and the area needed an upgrade to meet Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) standards.
The project team undertook a major refurbishment of the clinic and adjoining garden space to create a bright and welcoming environment and to ensure DDA compliance.
More than 300 patients, staff and local students participated in art workshops based on a theme of 'a breath of fresh air,' and many of their designs were used in the new design.
The space now feels light and airy, has a welcoming ambience and communicates confidence in high clinical standards. Features including a new nursing station, improved signposting and seating areas provide a better experience for both patients and staff.
