Reception and waiting area in the Child Development Centre
Aims and outcomes
Through consultation with parents and staff, the project team identified the reception and waiting area of the unit most in need of refurbishment. The aim of the project was to provide a relaxed waiting area where children could play and parental anxiety would be minimised.
The refurbishment included alterations to meet Disability Discrimination Act requirements and the installation of a new heating system. Remodelling was also carried out to create separate clinical and office spaces. The team worked with local artists who created the colourful wall toys and artworks which now feature throughout the area, creating interest and distraction for children.
