Queen Elizabeth Hospital NHS Trust

Date started:
Colour and art have transformed the corridor
The garden design reflects a holistic approach to care
The landmark sculpture at the hospital entrance

Location

The main entrance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and a corridor connecting two of the hospital buildings

Aims and outcomes

The project team wanted to personalise the new private finance initiative hospital, reflect a holistic approach to care and demonstrate the hospital's respect for patients.

As water is a recognised therapeutic intervention, an existing fountain was replaced with a landmark water sculpture, to provide a focus at the entrance to the hospital. Brightly-coloured panels were created, with the designs featuring the signature of every member of staff. These panels were hung along a long corridor connecting two buildings into an interesting and fun space.
