Aims and Outcomes
An arts-led approach was taken to the EHE project and the resulting 'Pathway to Recovery' involved five separate artistic commissions, one internal and four focussing on external spaces.
A chill-out area has been created from a dark waiting area and is now used for relaxation sessions. Outside an area has been designed where service users can grow herbs and vegetables and a large tarmaced area has become a vibrant activities area. The external commissions have been linked by a specially designed steel fence which also acts as a screen from the rest of the hospital site.
The overgrown courtyard area now provides spaces for contemplation, relaxation and conversation. A water feature surrounded by mosaic made by service users and a set of beautiful glass panels which subdivide a small, shaded, more private space give great interest.
