Aims and outcomes
The entrance and outpatient reception area were felt to be cluttered and confusing and the aim of the project was to create a welcoming space where people could wait in comfort for clinics.
Work was already underway to provide a new entrance to the building and this enabled the team to enlarge the project to provide linked seating areas both at reception and for people waiting to attend clinics together with a new lighting scheme and flooring.
A bold, warm colour scheme has been chosen for the waiting area, now renamed the Forget me not lounge, and comfortable chairs, specially heightened for more elderly patients; a clock, artworks and a drinks machine have been provided.
Local students produced a range of photographs capturing local scenes of Lincoln which provide interest for patients and visitors. A volunteer scheme has been introduced to welcome people and provide refreshments whilst they are waiting.
