King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Location
A section of a long corridor in the Variety Club Children's Hospital, as part of a bigger project to upgrade the whole corridor and other areas of children’s services
Aims and outcomes
The project team wanted to transform a cluttered corridor into a bright, light, welcoming, professional and inspiring space. The aim was to create a sense of identity and place and to help people find their way around the building through effective signage and ward information.
The design needed to be flexible and easy to maintain, and appropriate for children and young people. The design concept was to create a ‘welcome wall’ and eye-catching vistas with light boxes, places for pause, commissioned photographs, and a light tunnel, all glowing with light and colour.
