Corridors of the new Waterlow Unit

Aims and outcomes

The project team wanted to use art to create impact, movement, distraction and interest. They decided to commission an artwork that would bring colour, light, sound and movement into the corridors connecting wards of the new Waterlow Unit.

By developing the artwork as a modular piece, the team could install it in different configurations across a number of areas. This approach also brought practical benefits as it was safe, durable and easy to clean and maintain.

The resulting ceiling artwork is highly atmospheric, using changes in lighting and background music to evoke a forest full of leaves.
