The King's Fund today welcomed the government's long awaited response to the Bristol Royal Infirmary report.
Responding to the announcement by the Health Secretary of a new Council for the Quality of Health Care which will work to improve standards in the NHS, chief executive Rabbi Julia Neuberger said:
'It means the NHS becomes the standard-setter, regulator and purchaser of health care. The provision of care could come from a much wider range of organisations.'
But she added: 'It is very important in the long term to bring all the inspectorates together across the voluntary, public and private sectors.'
