Commenting on the Department of Health's organisation of a day of nationwide listening events on the future of the NHS, The King's Fund chief executive Niall Dickson said:
'We already know a lot about what people want from their health service, the difficult bit has always been delivering it.
'The debate is not over what we want, but how to get it and how to get it in an affordable way.
'The King’s Fund's recent report, Our Future Health Secured? A review of NHS funding and performance, demonstrated that there is still much more to do in improving NHS productivity and addressing difficult issues such as obesity.
'The question that should be posed to the general public is less what can your health service do for you, but what can you do for your own health?'
