The King's Fund appoints new director of leadership

Kate Lobley, director of leadership at the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement, will take up the post of director of leadership at health think tank The King's Fund on 1 December.

Kate will be responsible for taking forward The King's Fund's leadership and development programmes, building on the Fund's well-established reputation for developing existing and aspiring NHS leaders as the NHS faces its most radical shake-up.

'I am delighted to welcome Kate to The King's Fund. She is joining at a crucial time – the future of the NHS rests on having the right leaders in the right place to drive improvements and inspire change. Kate's knowledge and experience make her the ideal candidate to direct the Fund’s programme of work in developing NHS leaders of the future.'

Kate Lobley said: 'I am excited to join The King's Fund at this challenging time for the NHS. The scale of the challenge facing NHS leaders is unprecedented and few organisations match The King's Fund's independence and integrated approach to improving the health system.'

Prior to her role at the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement, where Kate was responsible for all strategic and operational elements of its leadership work across the NHS, she was executive director of operations at the Healthcare Commission.
